at or to (different answers from different native speakers)
With "be" do you use "at" and with "turn" use "to". "Max" is slang but which preposition is correct?
Here is what I mean:
The hotplate isn't on at the max. Turn it up to the max. The hotplate isn't on to the max. Turn it up to the max. The hotplate isn't on to the max. Turn it up at the max.
Turn the music up to the max. The music isn't turned up to a max. Turn the music up at the max. The music isn't turned up at a max.
The music isn't on at the max. Turn it up. The music isn't on to the max. Turn it up.
