AT OR ON

Please advise which one to use. On or at?

1) Please sit at/on the sofa to watch your movie.

2) Please put the clothes at/on the sofa.

3) Please do not eat on/at the sofa. Sit on/at the floor when you eat.

4) Please eat at the dining table.

Not related to the prepositions, but as an American, I say "at the kitchen table" or "at the dining room table," but not "at the dining table." I don't know if this is regional variation or not.
