At Or In This Shool

Hello everyone,

A. Is either "in" or "at" correct before the word "school" as follows?

1. He is the best student in this school.

2. He is the best student at this school.

B. If yes, is there any difference between them?

Regards,

JA

#1 is the natural choice. To me, #2 suggests the speaker is thinking of this school as one of several schools at different locations. eg He is the best student at this school but there are better students at the other schools down the road.
