"At or in"

Hi
Could you please tell me which is grammatically correct?

I need to be in school at 6am.
I need to be at school at 6am.

Because i'm getting confused between in or at. Thanks in advance!

I need to be in school at 6 am.

Personally, I would normally say, "I need to be at school at 6 am." And I speak American English.

If school actually started at 6 am and I was sitting in my class, then I would say that I was in school at 6 am.

By the way, I might say, "I need to be to school by 6 a.m."
