At or in

Hi,

1. Human race is the personification of the egoism which lies at the heart of nature.
2. Human race is the personification of the egoism which lies in the heart of nature.

#1 and # 2, which is the correct one?
I personally choose #1 because "the heart of nature" is not a literal heart"

Thanks in advance, A.L.

Is "the personification" wrong?

I cannot say it's wrong at all; it just sounds a little 'off' to me.
