"at" New Year's Eve?

Dear all,

As stated in the subject, should I say "at" New Year's Eve or "on" New Year's Eve? I have always been taught to use on so when I was corrected in the letter, I felt confused.

Or...both usages are grammatically correct but used for different occasions?

Hi, 'At' sounds wrong to me. I suppose there could be some odd context that might make it sound OK. Clive
