1) John is an engineer. I know you think he is not a good one, but he is.

2) John is an engineer. I know you think he is not a good one, but he is one.

3) John is an engineer. I know you think he is not a good one, but at least he is one.

4) John is an engineer. I know you think he is not a good one, but at least he is an engineer.

Which of the sentences 1-3 can be used instead of 4? In '4' the speaker isn't saying whether he thinks John is a good engineer or not.

Does '3' make sense?

Do '1' and '2' mean that the speaker thinks John is a good engineer?
