Could you please tell me if you find the following lines natural, especially the yellow parts? Any suggestions are welcome.
At last he stood in front of them, bound and helpless. They had waited for this moment for so long. He had done them all in the eye repeatedly over the past two years, and they had taken it. But now it was the time to pay back with interest.
Tied to a tree in the middle of nowhere, David knew very well/was well aware that there was no help/there was no saving/no escape against his 7 colleagues, all thirsty for this blood. He wanted to scream, but his throat was far too dry for that.
William moved forward and smeared something black roughly on David’s face. A roar of laughter followed. “Yes, David; please repeat what you said yesterday in the office.” William’s voice was full of disgust.
“But I didn’t mean it…believe me...I just…,” Tears blurred his vision and his heart started pounding so hard that perhaps all seven of them could hear it.
“Your misty eyes and quivering body force me to believe that you love your life very much, Willy. But don’t worry; we are not going to kill you. We just want to make you a living reminder of what a person like you gets in the end.” Tony made no attempt to conceal his sarcastic tone. He turned to his friends and continued, “Shall we start friends?”
