At first sight

Can someone explain to me if it is necessary to use a comma after the words 'at first sight'?
Maybe it depends?
I'm also not sure if the word 'spurious' is right? I want to say that they look odd/ out of the blue/ non-logical...

Sample sentence:

"At first sight these relationships may look spurious, though
