At fifteen

He died at fifteen. Is this sentence a shorter version of "He died at fifteen years old."? Can we ever say the latter? Or is it just either "He died at fifteen" or "He died at the age of fifteen"? Thanks

I wouldn't say "He died at fifteen years old" is actually wrong , but it feels less natural than the other two forms you mention, and there seems no need to use it.
