at an event

There was a sports event yesterday. My sister ran 80 meters
at/in
a/the/her
race/footrace, and
my brother ran 100 meters.
my brother did 100 meters.
my brother's was 100 meters.

Sorry for the mess, but I hope you understand what I'm trying to ask. I'm confused about which I should choose like the above. Can you give me any advice, please? Thank you.

Top answer

My sister ran 80 meters in a (foot)race, and my brother ran 100 meters. This is better because it is clear that they finished the race. My sister ran in the 80-meter race, and my brother ran in the 100-meter race.

  • My sister ran 80 meters in a (foot)race, and my brother ran 100 meters.
  • This is better because it is clear that they finished the race.
  • My sister ran in the 80-meter race, and my brother ran in the 100-meter race.
