Just as astrology was for centuries--faith,  countering the strength of established churches, so today believing in  astrology is an act of-- the professional sciences.   A. an individual.. rebellion by   B. an accepted.. antagonism toward   C. an underground.. defiance against   D. a heretical.. support for   E. an unknown.. concern aboutThe answer is C. Why, why it is "underground". There's no such suggestion obviously. I opt for B. Thank you in advance.

The meaning of "underground" here is "secret", "hidden", "not public".
That which counters the establishment has to remain secret. That which counters the establishment cannot be something which is accepted.

The "just as ...for centuries ... so today ..." requires the same relationship in both halves.
B is therefore obviously wrong, because acceptance and antagonism are not the same sort of relationship.
In fact the relationships are reversed in that choice because the acceptance is of the establishment toward the practitioners of astrology, whereas the antagonism is of the practitioners of astrology toward the establishment.
"underground faith" and "act of defiance" are not really the same sort of relationship either, but they are closer to being the same because both are reactions (one in secret, the other in the open) to established authorities.
