Assuming that

Would anybody be kind to help me understand usage of "Assuming that.."?

Can I categorize "Assuming that..." into the same group of "Given that...", "Granted that...",

"Provided that.." in terms of its usage?

Can they all be used as " If clause"?

Do I understand it right?

As far as my reading articles are concerned, I see "Given that..." once a while,

but seldom do I come across "Assuming that..."

How is the popularity on a daily basis among them different?

Thanks for reading.

  • No, of all the expressions you mentioned "assuming that" is similar only to "provided that" (they pretty much mean the same).
  • Yes, both assuming that and provided that can be replaced by a conditonal (if) sentence.
