Assignment/problem sentences

Hi. Please help me with these.

1. Please form phrases/sentences with a word from the list.

Do you think the underlined part "a word" is correctly used here? Do you think it should be "words"?

Could we call the sentence "Please form phrases/sentences with a word from the list"? Normally we seem to see the word "instructions" in plural for this type of one-word directive wording. I am not sure I worded correctly to reflect what I wanted to say, though.

2. Which is not small?

a. a baseball b. a country c. the world

Should the answers be without articles?

a. baseball b. country c. world
