Assertive sentence

Hello,

A declarative sentence is also known as affirmative and assertive sentence.

A affirmative sentence can be a negative also.

Is there any other name for the affirmative which is also negative?

Could anyone explain it?

Thanks.

A declarative sentence can be called an assertive sentence, though I prefer declarative. Affirmative is the opposite of negative. "Affirmative sentence" does not mean declarative sentence.

hanuman_2000A declarative sentence

A declarative sentence is also called an assertion.

Assertions can be affirmations or negations.

Declaratives:

The cat is on the mat. (affirmative assertion)
The cat is not on the mat. (negative assertion)

This is how I understand it.
