a/some

(1) You may realize the importance of language, only after you become unable to use it freely because of a disease or an accident.

(2) You may realize the importance of language, only after you become unable to use it freely because of some disease or some accident.

In my opinion, #1 is quite natural whereas #2 is a bit redundant with the second 'some', but I cannot really explain why.

Do you native speakers also feel that #2 is redundant? Or do you think #2 is also quite natural?

If you think #2 is redundant, could you please explain why we don't need the second 'some' while we should keep the second 'a' for #1?

I agree. The first retains the second article (though it needn't be kept) because they are different, I suppose-- a and an . It would more likely be dropped if the sentence read ' because of an illness or accident '.

The one after 'language' in (1) and (2) , Taka.

This is my two cents.

For your No. 2 sentence, I don't feel the second 'some' is redundant because it is there to give a distinct impression that 'disease' and 'accident' count separately. I think it is a matter of creating a different impression in this case.

Look at this, how do you see it?

1. ... couldn't get to my favorite store because of some boys and girls.

Yes, the comma is wrong, and the second some doesn't help the boys and girls a bit.
