Asleep Jane

I gave Jane [who is] asleep water.

What I intend to say is " I gave sleepy Jane water".

Is it same meaning? or different?

Thanks for your help.

Hi terry,

They don't have the same meaning .... the first sentence says that jane was asleep and you gave her some water, which doesn't make sense

In the second sentence although she was sleepy, she wasn't asleep... so therefore she can have the water.

hope this helps

And no, i think its not the same meaning because asleep mean he is sleeping now and sleepy mean he want to sleep but he is not sleeping.
