Asking vs. who's asking

Hi,

A. It's my friend asking.
B. It's my friend who's asking.

1. Which is correct between sentences A and B?
2. If both are correct, is one more natural than the other?

3. Is there any difference in meaning between them?

Your assistance is very much appreciated. Thanks.

They are both correct and natural English. To me, there is not a great difference in meaning, but B seems slightly more likely in the sort of explanatory situation in which this sentence would typically be used.
