Asking someone a question

If I want to know whether a person has been doing something recently, should I go with:

Have you been playing water polo? Would this be correct? And are there any other ways of saying it.

Thanks.

Hi,

Have you been playing water polo? Would this be correct? Yes. You could add the word 'recently'.

And are there any other ways of saying it. If you want to be very casual, you can just ask 'How's the water-polo?'
