Asking for how things "went".

Hi all,

Imagine you meet a friend who has just finished an important test, or a job interview, or who has just arrived from its (its?) holydays. How would you ask hir/her/them(?) about how everything has gone? I mean, a short formula; because I don't know if:

How it was?

is correct.

Thank you all for your help!

Cheers,
Teillu.

Thanks, Robinjw13.

I'm also wondering if the words "its" and "them" are the ones I shall have used in the question!

Thanks!!!
