Asking about a recent/past experience

Hello!

I have just written in an email that "I would love to know how it went with your new tools" but then something told me that that was awkward... and I just can't find an answer just by googling, so, please, I ask for your help: did I make a mistake? If so, what's the right way to ask for an American how was his experience using a new set of tools (that I recommended)?

Thank you so, so much!

Try: "How are you finding the new tools?" or "How are you getting along with the new tools?"
