Asked to or getting asked to

The first and foremost thing in an interview room is, that one should never take a seat before getting asked to/asked to.

What phrase should I use here "asked to" or "getting asked to".


And how to ask someone about qualifications or the highest they have studied. I can simply ask "what is your highest education"

But how to ask in other manners like below

How much have you studied.
