ask without asking [possible?]

How would you say the sentence? How would you say the last sentence?

She asked without really asking. She wanted to sleep over but made it feel it so I would propose.

Thanks

Hi, I would say that this is possible in natural language. " You could say she implied that she wanted to sleep over.

You can ask without really asking by saying something like "I need to go to bed, but it's such a long walk home!"

You could say she implied that she wanted to sleep over.
