Ask the kids

When I was seven ,
I really was quite strange ,
As they say .


One day ,
When I was with friends ,
On the playground ,
We found a big , black beetle ;
We didn't shout or scream ,
Or get sick.
But each of us beamed ,
And was so fond of the beetle ;

We emptied our bags to put in ,
And were very generous ,
But very silly when
We tried to give it a kiss,
And I remembered
How kind my parents were
To weak creatures .

But it seems that grownups
Cannot understand ,
For when Ma saw it ,
She screamed
And threw it out of the car
Before asking me about it.


Why can't some grownups understand
Various things about life ?
Why don't they try ?
Why don't they ask the kids ?
