ask me/ask?

hi,
is there a difference between the following sentences?

A: My friends always ask for my opinion.
B: My friends always ask me for my opinion.

If you want someone's opinion then normally you ask that person, so normally "ask me" would be assumed in (A). However, in a situation where they ask someone else about your opinion, you could use (A) but not (B).
