ASK FOR WRITING CORRECTION

Hello! Please help me correct my report. Are there any sentences that I should re-write? Thank you very much!

My second experience was to teach an intermediate class of Linguistic Faculty. That was such a challenging but passionate task for me to make an all-out effort. Under the provocative support of the instructor and the cooperative teammates, everything was got done step by step.
First, we went to observe the assigned class to learn from the teacher and get to know the student’s learning capacity. By then we identified our students were active and most of them can adjust well in a communicative class, however, they showed some difficulties in organizing ideas and producing a long stretch of language without any grammatical mistakes.


We built up a two-hour-lesson plan for forty-five students. The language skills assigned to our group to teach were Reading and Writing and particularly, I was responsible for 20 minutes of teaching writing. We would teach chapter 9 of the two textbooks Inside Reading 2 (third edition) and Great Paragraph 2 (fourth edition). Based on the chapter content and the extra material provided by the class teacher, we first identified the objectives of the lesson then designed correspondence activities to meet those objectives. As I have never practice taught writing before, the lesson planning proved to be an arduous process for me. I had to read many sources to ensure my teaching process and activities applied for writing was appropriate. Since writing is somewhat an unexciting skill by its nature, I had to choose activities that both equally informative and fascinating enough for the student to learn meaningful things without getting bored. As it was the first time I try teaching writing, mistakes were inevitable. My biggest weakness was that the objectives I stated were not clear enough and lack of ethical behavior education.


After times of correction and improvement of the plan, there came the teaching days. Each of us has only twenty minutes to transfer the required amount of knowledge to students, which was quite challenging. In twenty minutes, I had to let student withdraw the structure of a sample opinion paragraph, identified all the common mistakes in this sample, then suggested them ways to improve those mistakes. Teaching as a real teacher was vastly different from what I had planned I could not finish my part within the time allotted because I had crime much information on my part and the students did not catch my teaching pace unless I transferred them as slowly as possible.


After the demonstration, I got many precious feedbacks from both the instructor and the class teacher. By those comments, I was able to spot out my drawbacks in teaching, which usually I could not realize by myself. First I have to balance between my allotted time and the amount of teaching knowledge. I think instead of putting too much information in a lesson, I should teach less but more carefully. The second is to improve my pronunciation and raise my voice louder to catch student attention. Finally, I should practice the way to give feedback to the students that not only show them their weaknesses but motivating enough to keep their enthusiasm in learning. All this advice gave me great insight into my teaching skills and enabled me to improve myself immensely
