Ask for more information or show your surprise!?

Hi every one;

Is it common to ask for confirmation or show surprise in this way:
A: I play football.
B: Do you?

A: I have got a car.
B: Have you?

I mean using short questions to show your surprise or ask for confirmation or more information.

Thanks
