"Ask" /1 sentence/

Dear Everyone,

I looked at several places but I’m still confused; could you let me know, please, if this sentence is correct if I use the “request” meaning of “ask”?

She asked something of the gardener that he was not willing to do.

If it’s wrong, how should I put it?

Thank you!
