As you do or like you do

Greetings!

Please, help me to clarify what I should use when I say something like this: "I don't look good like/as you do though". The fact is that I saw both versions and this is disturbing me.

Thank you.

In casual conversation the most common way for this to be said is, "I don't look as good as you do, though."

Thank you. Yes, I know the way that you've shown, but I really wonder when as can be replaced by like.

It could. You could say "I don't look good, like you do." This would not be as common, but is not incorrect.

okay, but what's the difference between them then?

There's not really a difference in meaning between whether you use "like" or "as" in this context.

There is a slight difference in my two statements, however.

I don't look as good as you do. (means:I look good, but you look better)

I don't look good, like you do. (means: You look good but I do not)

Hi,

Not necessarily. I don't see any difference between the sentences you've mentioned.

Which one is correct here? 1) I dream of having the coolest kid like my parents do?

or 2) I dream of having the coolest kid as my parents do?

Well! I was searching for some better explanation but unfortunately... Take this hint: after "like" we usually have a simple sentence and after "as" we should have a clause
