As well as making money, businesses also have social responsibilities. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Businesses always give priority to make profits, however, more and more people argue that social obligations are required in businesses. I completely believe that social responsibilities should be given priority over earning money.

As a matter of fact, profits are the main and the most important things in running a business. If a company cannot afford to pay the bills or pay salaries for its employees, then it won’t have the ability to survive in this competitive world. As well as that, with the small amount of revenue, growing a business is nearly impossible. As a result, making good contribution to society becomes irrelevant. In other words, making profits is the first step in a process of paying back to society.

Having said that, corporations should not radically concentrate on making money. Earning money is meaningful only when it is used for good purposes. One simple way to contribute to society is to donate money to charities, environment projects and education initiatives. In addition, employers should provide good fringe benefits for their employees such as health insurance, free dinners, or simply pay a large sum of money for the injuries workers sustained at work. By making contribution to society, companies will enhance their public images and also gain a competitive edge over all their rivals.

In conclusion, it is my belief that social responsibilities should be considered as the main aim of conducting a business. If each company is aware of the most important purpose of making profits, then our society will become better.
