It is argued that besides generating profits, enterprises also have public responsibilities. On the one hand, companies must be responsible for all their production process must not harm people and the environment. Each year, there are thousands of tons of waste from the production process, packaging products being discharged into the natural environment from factories, this leads to serious environmental pollution, especially soil and water environment. Additionally, the emission from the plants also is harmful to people's health. Besides, illogically use natural materials such as wood, stone, sand, marine resources impact hugely on ecosystem namely global warming, greenhouse effect. Therefore, businesses need to have activities to decrease the minimum amount of waste, waste disposal. For example, at a sugar production company in Vietnam where I have the opportunity to visit, bagasse waste has been reuse to produce fertilizer using for bagasse farms, so all part of bagasse is used to rise company's profits, drop waste disposal fee and protect the environment.
On the other hand, businesses which make profits should put money back into the community through financing scholarship for students. Many poor students are not conditional enough to go to school or university and financing scholarships can help them have the opportunity to study. Besides, connecting between enterprises and university offer many employment opportunities for the graduate student. Consequently, this helps promotes educational development and firms not only find potential candidates but also enhance their public image. For example, some of the companies find and educate potential candidates by providing financing scholarships to study abroad for students from various of the university and after graduation, they will come back and work for companies.
In conclusion, while generating profits is the top priority, businesses must accept social responsibilities because their activities would be harmful to the environment if they do not control and they should put a part of profits back into the community by financing scholarships to enhance their public image and having potential candidates.
