Making a profit is the essence of business. Whether or not business also have social responsibilities is a controversial question. In my opinion, I completely agree with this idea for the reasons I will outline below.
First of all, a company must have strong finance in order to survive. We are in a competitive environment, if stopping trying, we will become bankrupt immediately. Moreover, companies also need money to run internally as well as externally and to invest or execute some projects. When the company has a powerful finance, it will have enough ability to undertake social responsibilities voluntarily. Conversely, if a company has a weak finance or only enough money to maintain itself and does not make any profit, it can not think about social responsibilities.
Besides making a profit, companies should be interested in social responsibilities if they want to improve and be successful. These responsibilities include both internal environment and external environment. Employees are the main component of a company. If leaders treat their staffs well, they will distribute their best for the company. Therefore, their company will develop dramatically. To the external environment, companies should support some charities or help poor people directly by charity travels. These activities not only help many people better, but also make a good impression for company in customers' eyes. It may help the company attract more customers to consume their products.
In conclusion, companies should take care of social responsibilities as much as making profit to maintain the development in the long run.
