As we know

Hello, teachers!

- [As we know, As is known], oil is lighter than water.
In this sentence, both are correct, but 'As we know' is better, I think.
Am I right?

Personally, I prefer the other-- it is more impersonal, befitting a scientific observation. However, both are redundant, so seem out of place.
