"AS" to mean "progressively" ???

Could you please tell me how you would say this sentence naturally?

1 Set the table as the customers leave, don't wait until all the cutomers are gone to set all the table at once.
2 Shelve the books as the customers bring the books back. Don't wait until you have a lot of them to start putting them up.

Thank you
