As to?

Please tell me as to how to do it?
Please tell me how to do it?

What is the major difference between these two sentences? Can I omit "as to" and tell the 2nd one while speaking?

Thanks!

Hi, Thanks.

So, the sentence mean the same with/without 'as to' right? And I can omit it just like that in future?!

Hi,
You can tell (someone) how / when / what...

As to is not required. It's wrong.
