As soon as/The second

Sandra smiles.

Sandra: I'm fine.

But as soon as Adam turns to leave, tears start streaming down Sandra's face. / But the second Adam turns to leave, tears start streaming down Sandra's face.

Is the sentence starting with "but the second Adam..." correct? (to mean the same as the sentence starting with "but as soon as Adam" which I know is correct.)
