As regards most of them...

Are these sentences correct with the given meanings:

1) There is no fee to cancel most of your appointments.
Meaning: As regards most of the appointments you have made, there is no fee to cancel them. But there is a cancellation fee for some of the appointments.

2) I don't know if most of my friends will be at the party or not.
Meaning: As regards most of my friends, I do not know if they will be at the party or not.

I would normally interpret '2' to mean: Maybe most of my friends will be at the party and maybe they won't. Maybe only a few of them will be there.

I would normally interpret '1' to mean: You won't have to pay a cancellation fee if you cancel a great number of your appointments.

Gratefully,
Navi.

Top answer

I take #1 to mean that the circumstances of most of your appointments are such that no fee would apply if you were to cancel them, regardless of how many of them you cancel. Other than that, I think you have it all right.
