As regards

Are these sentences correct:

1) The court applied the law as regards John's misdemeanor.
2) The court applied the law regarding John's misdemeanor.
3) The court applied the law concerning John's misdemeanor.
4) The court applied the law with regards to John's misdemeanor.

Meaning:
The court applied the law in the case of John's misdemeanor.

My problem is that we can't say:
A) The court applied the law ABOUT John's misdemeanor.

Or at least I don't think we can. So the other ones might be problematic as well.
