Hello, would someone please tell me understand "as ready as I'll ever be" ?

a. what does "ever" mean here?

b. why is it in future tense?

Hi, There is no hidden meaning here. You may think of it as 'He may never be ready (or readier than now) but he's goint to do it anyway regardless of his (un)readiness.

ever - at any time (point) in the continuity of time

Will he ever be ready? = Will he be ready at any time? = Will there be any time when he is read
