Hi everyone,
I´ve been having a discussion with my english teacher about a grammatical error.
The sentence was the following:
He runs __ horse does.
All the students had to put the correct preposition, as or like. Although like sounds better (at least for me) I put as, because I had seen the sentence the day before the test and that was the correct answer. My teacher isn´t exactly the most hardworking person I´ve ever met, she always gives us sentences of the internet. I´m asking now for advice. The proper preposition was as, because it was a clause? why should it be as and not like? In case of any questions heere is the exercise page. https://www.ecenglish.com/learnenglish/lessons/like-and-as
In advance, thanks for all the support.
Each of the following three links shows a usage discussion of 'as' and 'like'. Opinions vary. I would say "He runs like a horse does", but according to some grammarians it's considered less formal than "as".
