Hi.

Should we use as or like in the following context?

That sounds .......... the rain coming now.

I would be grateful if you could explain the reason for your choice.

It's a preposition in 'It looks like rain' and it's a conjunction in 'It looks like it's going to rain'. That's why it's better to think of 'look like' as a phrasal verb.
