AS NOW, SINCE

1) Is it correct to say "We don't spend too much time together, because we are living in different towns, AS NOW* I'm in college" or "...different town, *SINCE I'm in college"?

2)I think the comma in the second one seems a little weird. Can someone say something about this?

I don't think "as now" works very well in the example you gave. You may say something like this:

Since we are living in different towns now, we can't spend much time together.
Because we live in different cities (now), it is not possible to meet every day.
As we are living in different towns these days, ...

These two are OK:

Now that I'm in college, we don't spend much time together because we live in different towns.
Now that I'm in college and we are living in different towns, we don't spend much time together.
