"AIRLINES are expecting to lose twice as much this year than first predicted, as global revenues slump 12 per cent and demand falls almost 6 per cent."
Is as much ... than correct? The sentence is from an Australian newspaper called The Australian.

I agree with MrP. Possibly it was a cut-and-paste sort of typo. The sentence may have started off being worded this way:

AIRLINES are expecting to lose more (or two times more) this year than first predicted...
