As much of something?

Hello everybody.

Other times, we wish we hadn’t done quite as much of the thing as we did.
Would you please tell me what the bold part means?

Does it mean we should not have finished it?

In the story we read about the things we wish we hadn't done. And these things are three types one of them are those we wish we hadn’t done quite as much of the thing as we did.

Thanks ??

Jamal 1315 we wish we hadn’t done quite as much of the thing as we did. You wish you had done that thing less often than you did or with less intensity as you did. CJ
