Grammar

as much as as/more than

Hi,

Which one is grammatically correct?
1. He drinks a third as much as me.
2. He drinks a third more than me.

Some say both are correct and others say only No.2 is correct.
If No.1 is wrong please tell me why.

3. He drinks a third less than me.
Does this sentence mean the same as No.1?

Thanks a lot.

Mister Micawber,

One more question about "half" in the comparative phrase.
"Half" is fine with "as much as"

He drinks half as much as me.
It means when I drink 1 he drinks 0.5.

However, "Half" is considered grammatically wrong with "more than" and "~er than"
He drinks half more than me.
As a non nativer speaker, it sounds like he drinks 1.5 when I drink
