As much as

Hi,

I have a few queries:

a) Hard work pays, realizing which Mark got back to his books again.
Can 'realizing which' be used in this manner? If not, how else can one explain that a certain idea made someone do something?

b) If anything was certain, it was that the guys were lazy.
Is this a correct way?

c) There were teenagers (who were) energetic enough to play as well as old people (who were) weak enough to collapse.
I am assuming (who were) isn't necessary. But can we connect the sentence with 'as well as' instead of using 'and'?

d) India was as much a colony of Britain as Congo was of France.
Can one compare in this manner?

Regards,
Mr. X

Thanks, Mr. M. Can 'as also' be used, provided we place a comma before it?

That seems too stilted to me.
