As much a right to a place on the bench as any

He was of high birth, with as much a right to a place on the bench as any other man.

Hi. Can we interpret this sentence as “no one had more right to a place on the bench than him” if we interpret “any other man” as anyone else of the male gender on the whole planet?

Thank you.
