Vocabulary

As long ago as, as far back as

Hello,
what is the meaniing of these two collocation:
as long ago as, as far back as

Examples:

I wrote it as long ago as 2000.
I wrote it as far back as 2000.

Are these examples correct? (should not be there "in" before 2000?)

Thx for the answer

Both example sentences are correct, and they mean more or less the same thing. Compared to the straightforward "I wrote it in 2000", the sentences imply that, in the context, the year 2000 is a long time ago. So, the author is emphasising that he wrote it at an early date -- for example, in order to point out that "he was right first".
