As last time/as before?

A week later I met with him at the cafe again, and we sat at the same table as last time.

A week later I met with him at the cafe again, and we sat at the same table as before.

- Are 'last time' and 'before' interchangeable here? Which one of them is more common?

- Should I keep the comma?
