As inconceivable as...

Can we actually use comparions when we have words like 'inconceivable,' 'unimaginable' etc.? Example: Such a thing was inconceivable as X.

You can't normally say inconceivable as. You can say as inconceivable as just as you can say as old as, as young as, as tall as etc. CB
